We try our best, where needed, to respond in English or German. But our children's nurses cannot be expected to have a perfect command of these languages.
Childrens dental care
All children and young people between the ages of 0 and 18 that live in Haderslev Kommune are entitled to free visits to dentists in the Kommune area. Appointments for these visits are automatically generated by the dental clinic the child is registered with.
The need for and therefore frequency of check-ups varies from child to child. Appointments for visits are generated according to the child's individual needs.
If, however, you think your child needs a check-up, you can certainly make an appointment.
A good experience
Our dentists have many years' experience of treating children and young people, and offer visits and treatments which are tailored to the needs and maturity of the child.
It is important that children have no fear of visiting the dentist, such a fear being easily spread to other members of the family and we try to avoid this.
If you have a fear of visiting the dentist, please tell us. We can then help your child overcome such fears as may have been transmitted.
We do this by getting your child slowly accustomed to visiting the dentist, to making it a good experience.
In the first place, we would seek to work with you, the parent, but we also collaborate closely with the various childcare institutions, the schools and the local healthcare department.

In emergencies during school holidays, call a dental clinic. During public holidays, call T: (+45) 76 35 40 74 (Falck). This dental emergency service will return your call by 11:30am at the latest to arrange an appointment.
Childcare places and daycare institutions
Haderslev Kommune offers 42 daycare institutions from Arnum in the west of the area to Stevelt in the east. In addition to these, about 260 places are provided by daycare mothers.
The institutions vary in size from about 20 children to over 100.
Children are grouped by age in various ways. Some institutions cater for the 0-6 age range, others for the 2-6 range, and of course, there are the traditional Kindergartens for children from 3-6.
For children from 6 months old to 3rd class, there is a guarantee of childcare. All children and young people have the right to learn, to interact socially and the right to adult supervision.
In addition, we consider it important to improve both the health and the well-being of the child.
Haderslev hosts the only creche in the Kommune. In some countryside areas, a wider collaboration with schools is in place, where children in the SFO pass into the care of the daycare institutions. This care is available until the child reaches the age of 11.
If after considering these alternatives, you cannot find the ideal solution for your childcare needs, you have the option of choosing private childcare.

Schools and schools for those with special needs
The Education Department is responsible for schools and for maintaining contact with other educational institutions such as private schools, youth clubs, part-time education establishments for young people, and advice centres.
The aim of the department is, in collaboration with schools, to ensure a sound basis for education in the municipality.
It is our wish that all students have a positive experience while at school in Haderslev Kommune, and to present them with challenges that will strengthen their life skills, which are so important in a well-functioning modern society.
The progress and well-being of each student, together with the monitoring of their social interaction within the community, are of paramount importance.
Our wish is for strong and skilful children possessed of a sound sense of social responsibility.
The law for schools and other core regulations, together with the local decision-making process, form the foundation for the way schools are run.

School consists of a 10-year course, from preschool class to 9th class.
Students have the option of volunteering for an extra school year - 10th class.
In Haderslev Kommune, there are two municipal 10th class schools:
- an educational centre in Vojens
- the school at the Kloeften in Haderslev
In addition to these, there are options that are not offered by the municipality.
The school course
Children start school when they reach the appropriate age and finish their schooling with a final exam after 9th or 10th class.
Youth clubs and spare time education for young people
The Education Department is also working in the provision of youth clubs and spare time education for young people. See www.haderslevungdomsskole.dk.
The club section is organised partly as an association with parental administration and partly under the municipal section dealing with spare time education.
UU-Haderslev - Young people's education advice - Haderslev
The aim of the UU is to give young people the opportunity to make independent and qualified choices with respect to education and choice of job.
UU gives advice to young people in their choice of youth education, etc. It organises courses, information events and practical help, and also ensures that young people with special needs get specialised help.
